年末の沢木耕太郎のラジオがよかったのと、正月で時間があったので、12/30の日記を自分で英訳してみた。日本語版とちょっと変わっているが、ほぼ同じことが言えていると思う。Bizmatesの講師2名に見てもらったが、１段落目はどちらも指摘なしだった。ORIGINALは最初の講師の指摘を受けて直した後のもの。本当のオリジナルもう少し酷かった。REVICEDは、二人目の講師の直しの後で、不要な部分が落ちて、個人的にはだいぶ良いと思う。今回は忘れてしまったが、次回からタイトルもちゃんと訳したい。

I remember a radio show that I listened to last night. It is hosted by Kotaro Sawaki, a 75-year-old Japanese writer who is well known for a novel based on his journey as a backpacker in his youth. That show is on air only on the night of Christmas, and I look forward to listening to him every year. What I like about him as a show host is the way he talks to the audience. It sounds gentle, relaxing, best of all, intimate.
This year, he began his show by sharing with us two beautiful things he saw that day. One was Mt.Fuji covered by white snow. He saw it from the window of his house. The other was Tokyo Tower shining like a Christmas tree at night. He saw the whole part of it from the studio that he was in. Then he shared us about why it looked so nice to him. It was not only because the two were actually beautiful. It was maybe because he had been feeling really happy since he finished writing a book this year. To my surprise, he had struggled to work on it for twenty five years. He went on, “We should be a person who produce the product, not a person who just criticizes what others do. We may produce what we like: food, clothes, anything is okay. What is essential is to finish it until the end and it can bring us happiness.” I would like to be a person like that.
